چکیده

For the regression model Yi = m(xi) + σ(xi)2i, i = 1, . . . , m, we propose a new nonparametric diagnostic test for checking the constancy of the conditional variance function σ(x). The proposed test does not assume a known parametric form for the conditional mean function m(x). The test statistic is inspired by recent asymptotic theory in analysis of variance when the number of factor levels is large. Simulation studies demonstrate the good finite-sample properties of the test. We apply the proposed test to a study on the effect of drug utilization on health care costs. Statistical comparison of univariate tests of homogeneity of variances

This paper compares empirical type I error and power of different tests that have been proposed to assess the homogeneity of within-group variances, prior to anova. The tests of homogeneity of variance (THV) compared in this study are: Bartlett's test, the Scheffé-Box log-anova test, Cochran’s C test and Box’s M test, in their parametric and permutational forms. The main questions addressed in ...

Increasing the discrimination power the decision making units based on reducing dispersion of weights in the data envelopment analysis

Data envelopment analysis which is a nonparametric technique for evaluating relative efficiency of the decision making units with multiple inputs and outputs, has been a very popular method among researchers. While this nonparametric technique is popular, it has some drawbacks such as lack of discrimination in efficient units and weights dispersion .The present study, which is a model based on ...

Testing equality of means and variances of several Weibull populations

The usual practice for testing homogeneity of several populations in terms of means and variances is first to test for the equality of variances and once this assumption is found to be tenable then to test the equality of means. Singh (1986) proposes a very interesting procedure based on two likelihood ratio statistics for testing homogeneity of several normal (μ, σ) populations. Singh uses a m...

On the Blocks of Interpoint Distances

We study the blocks of interpoint distances, their distributions, correlations, independence and the homogeneity of their total variances. We discuss the exact and asymptotic distribution of the interpoint distances and their average under three models and provide connections between the correlation of interpoint distances with their vector correlation and test of sphericity. We discuss testing...
